Jazz Butchers – TICKETS

Based in Southern California, the Jazz Butchers play original compositions with elements of modern, alternative, and ‘straight ahead’ jazz — infusing bits of latin, blues, funk and other elements. The songs are upbeat and Inspiring. The live show is unpredictable and spontaneous. They pay homage to the experimental days in Los Angeles circa 1970 -1980. The music on their latest release is inspired and attributed to people and places that developed the album’s character. Jon Mayer Trio – TICKETS

Jon Mayer grew up in New York City during a fertile time in modern jazz evolution. He played on a John Coltrane recording ‘Like Sonny’ and on a Jackie McLean Prestige cut called `Strange Blues’. He spent time in the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Band as well as road assignments with Dionne Warwick, Sarah Vaughan, and Anita O’Day. His compositions have been cut by Les McAnn, Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra, Nancy Wilson, Gladys Knight, Ernie Watts and Jackie Ryan. He’ll be joined by Roy McCurdy on drums and Chris Conner on bass.

Frisson – TICKETS

Frisson is a band formed of Oberlin Conservatory (OH, USA) alumni and lead by Matt DiBiase. Drawing heavily from jazz, fusion, rock, R&B, and electronic music, Frisson’s eclectic music contains strong rhythmic foundations, singable melodies and rich harmonies that fuel spectacular solos from its creative and talented members. Matt DiBiase is the band leader who plays vibes & electronics. The rest of the band sonsists of Nathan Rice (tenor sax), Michael Orenstein (keys), Eli Heath (bass), Chase Kuesel (drums), Giveton Gelin (trumpet), Patrick Graney (aux. percussion), Russell Gelman Sheehan (guitar). And yes, we’re going to try to squeeze all 8 of them on the Blue Guitar stage.

Louie Cruz Beltran & His Latin Jazz Band – TICKETS

Louie Cruz Beltran is a charismatic entertainer, singer and master percussionist. His musical career was crafted upon the soulful sounds of his ethnic American background and flavored with contemporary R&B, Jazz, and Salsa as well as the Great American Songbook. Early in his career, Louie performed with great artists such as Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Francisco Aguabella, and Jorge Claudio. Recently he has performed with legends Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Poncho Sanchez and many other renowned artists. Louie will be joined by Carlos Vivas on keyboard, Ramon Banda on drums, Andrew Ford on bass, and Justin Janer on sax and flute.

Peter Olstad & the South Pas All-Stars – TICKETS

Peter Olstad is a SoCal native who earned a performance/educator degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston. During his student days, he placed prominently in the Thelonius Monk Institute’s trumpet competition, concurrent with Downbeat Magazine’s early recognition of his skills. He had a series of sideman/soloist slots with Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, Mel Torme, Tom Jones, and most recently, Latin pop star Luis Miguel. He is widely recognized as a trumpet virtuoso who is essentially a robust and passionate swing stylist, with an intense modernist edge. He’ll be joined by the “South Pasadena All-Stars” — Riner Scivally on guitar, Putter Smith on Bass, Dave Tull on Drums, and Pancho Loyo on piano.

Elliott Caine Quintet

Inspired by 60’s “Blue Note” style jazz, as well as by the music of Tito Puente and Mongo Santamaria, the Elliott Caine Quintet plays original compositions as well as the works of Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley, and Donald Byrd among others.  The band consists of Elliott Caine on trumpet, Scott Gilman on tenor sax, Sam Hirsh on piano, Bill Markus on bass, and Kenny  Elliott on drums.

KAIT DUNTON is a Los Angeles based composer & pianist with an unconventional approach to composition and to the piano trio, best expressed by her genre-pushing super group, trioKAIT. Together with bassist Cooper Appelt (Kan Wakan, Station Breaks, Robert Davi) and drummer Jake Reed (Bill Holman, Bruce Forman, Mako), trioKAIT brings a modern, tight and groovy sound to the piano trio format, shuffling wide-ranging influences and Kait’s innovative compositions into a refreshingly modern take on instrumental music that is as uncategorizable as it is infectious. Fused together via Kait’s music, the trio melds into a laser-focused single entity that is captivating, playful and exciting.
